We Smithson's must all be realated somehow. I too was told by my uncle who did the geneology research on our family that we too are related to James Smithson Of Smithsonian fame.
My Grandaddy was Joshua Julian Smithson from Elizabeth City, NC. My Dad was a Jr. My Uncle who did the research was Harold W. Smithson. I personally have 6 brothers and 1 sister. two of my brothers are deceased.
Even though in the big scheme of things the name Smithson is fairly rare, There are plenty of us. Especially from our branch. with 8 kids, 17 grandkids and so far 25 great grandkids.
Anyway, Hi to all my distant and not so distant Smithson relatives. We have a lot of pride in that name!!!

But other then that i dont know much its a pretty uncommon name, although there is another girl in my school with the name? so we think we are related somehow. we also know that we may have family from my grandma Author Smithson\'s previos marrage in Gorgia? maybe?
